Subject	Testing radio head unit before installation?

Message	Hi guys, I'm looking to upgrade the head unit on my radio. I found a nice Pionner flip-up touch-screen unit at an online auction, and after doing some research, found that it was produced around 2009, so it's not too old, and was their top-of-the-line, $2700 product. So, if it goes cheap, I'd like it. However, I want to inspect it and see if it works before I attempt to buy it. I did some quick researching online about testing it outside a car and it seems I could just hook the power wire to the positive terminal of a 12V battery and the ground to the negative. Will this work/hurt the radio? Some of the answers I found were on Yahoo answers, so who know what yahoos (pun intended) answered them. I figured I could get some more reliable input here. Thanks a ton!
